Two top 10s: Cornes urges Blues to trade Curnow to Suns

Kane Cornes would happily trade Charlie Curnow to Gold Coast if he were Carlton.
Cornes’ stance comes after Tom Morris revealed on Nine that Curnow had an interest in playing for the Suns despite being contracted until the end of the 2029 season.
While the Blues are reportedly unwilling to trade the two-time Coleman winner, with Michael Voss telling the press Curnow will ‘stay a Carlton man’, Cornes thinks a move to the Suns opens up some real possibilities for the club.
Looking at Gold Coast’s recent trade decisions, including giving up Pick 6 in a deal for Dan Rioli, Cornes thinks the Blues could land a king’s ransom for the tall forward.
“A lot of these player movement stories just get floated now,” Cornes said on SEN Sportsday.
“They become big stories, but the likelihood of them happening is zero.
“But if the interest is real, what I want to ask Carlton fans is - Why wouldn't you do it? Only because it's Gold Coast.
“Just say that Curnow to Gold Coast was real, and considering it’s Gold Coast where draft picks mean little, and considering they gave up Pick 6 for Dan Rioli, what could you actually get if you're Carlton for Charlie Curnow?
“Take away the Academies and the situation that they're all in now, you can trade future picks two years out.
“What would you get for him when draft picks aren't real for this footy club?
“If Rioli is 6, I'm saying you'll get two top 10 picks for Charlie Curnow.”
Cornes also thinks that the value received in a Curnow trade would help fast-track a rebuild, with this perhaps being the best opportunity they have to get maximum value for an asset.
“Blues fans, surely that is a deal that you jump at, you leap at, as much as I love Charlie Curnow,” Cornes said.
“But right now, they need something, and something has to give to rebuild this list. This is the best opportunity they'll ever have.
“Pick 6 for Rioli means Curnow is worth two top-eight picks.”
