Mitch Wallis is this week’s guest on This Is Your Journey – thanks to Tobin Brothers.
Hailing from Melbourne, the son of Dogs great Stephen Wallis originally joined the Western Bulldogs as a father-son draftee at pick No. 22 in 2010.
It wouldn’t take him long to make his mark at the top level either, playing 19 games in his second season at the level, averaging more than 22 disposals a game.
Wallis’ form increased just as the Bulldogs’ did once Luke Beveridge took over in 2015 and he soon became a key piece of the exciting side.
Cruelly though, Wallis missed out on playing in the historical 2016 premiership after suffering a sickening broken leg against St Kilda late in that year’s home and away season.
While he never achieved the ultimate goal of a premiership, Wallis didn’t let the broken leg ruin his career as he came back in 2017 and averaged more than 20 disposals for the next three seasons before becoming a forward in 2020 where he came equal-13th in the Coleman Medal.
Wallis spoke about the ups and downs of his career and much more in this week’s episode.
