In the gun: The Power player Cornes feels must lift in Showdown
Port Adelaide champion Kane Cornes has put Power defender Miles Bergman in the gun ahead of Saturday night’s Showdown with Adelaide.
Bergman has become one of the most reliable defenders across the competition, helping Port secure three top-four finishes in the last four years.
The 23-year-old, who has enjoyed more midfield minutes in 2025, shunned lucrative long-term offers from multiple Victorian clubs to recommit to the Power for a further two seasons.
Cornes called on Bergman to step up and play on Crows captain Jordan Dawson as he feels the emerging Power star's impact had dropped off since putting pen to paper.
“I'm actually going to turn my attention to the Showdown, because I love nothing more than a Showdown,” Cornes told SEN Breakfast.

“This one feels about as flat as I've ever seen, because Port Adelaide have put the cue in the rack.
“There's no doubt about that and I've got my eyes focused on Miles Bergman.
“You're going to take the cash, you're going take the big money cash, go head-to-head with Jordan Dawson this week, and actually impact.
“Since that contract extension has been signed, there has been little to no output from Miles Bergman, and to be fair, other than Zak Butters and Mitch Georgiades, a lot of his teammates.
“Miles Bergman, for me in a big game, a Ahowdown where sometimes the underdog can win, they have in the past, not thinking that's going to happen this week.
“If it's going to, Bergman's got to be better, so he's in the gun.”
The Showdown takes place at the Adelaide Oval from 8:10pm AEST (7:40pm ACST) on Saturday.
