Walters: We want more Kangaroo tours
Australia Kangaroos coach Kevin Walters has called for more International tours following a successful UK Ashes series.
Australia recently wrapped up the three-match series against England with a 14-4 win in the second Test in Liverpool. The Third Test will be on Sunday morning in Leeds.
According to Walters, the players have embraced being on the first Ashes tour in 22 years and believes it will have a positive result on international rugby league.
“It’s got to happen again,” Walters said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.
“It used to be every two years that the Kangaroos would have a tour.
“It’s been a great experience from the players and the fans here are completely different.
“The supporters and the whole part of touring with 24 players and 12 staff has been (excellent).
“It needs to continue because I’m a huge fan (of) the experiences you share and the lifelong friendships you make on these tours.
“It’s really special.”
Despite having an unassailable 2-0 series lead, the Kangaroos have been far from perfect in their performances.

Walters responded to Voss and said he wouldn’t be pressured by the media at the selection table and wasn’t prepared to make any big changes to the starting 17.
“I’m going to take a little bit more time to settle on the 17,” Walters continued.
“I know that you (Voss) have had some thoughts around what should and shouldn’t happen.
“I’m reading those thoughts with interest which is good. Everyone is obviously looking forward to the team being announced.
“I’m going to keep my cards close to my chest (but) I’ve been really impressed with their attitude.
“Our attack hasn’t been what we would’ve liked.
“I’m not going to give too much away."
The Kangaroos will look to sweep the series with a win at Headingley at 1:30am AEDST on Sunday morning.
