Shots fired: Galvin's brutal takedown of Tigers
In his first official appearance as a Canterbury Bulldog, Lachie Galvin has delivered some not-so subtle swipes at his former teammates and coach.
The 19-year-old has made headlines on a near daily basis since announcing his intent to walk away from the Wests Tigers back in April.
Back then Galvin said he would not extend his existing contract despite being offered in excess of $5m across multiple years, but was adamant he would see out his time with Tigers to the end of 2026.
Initially his announcement saw him dropped to the NSW Cup by coach Benji Marshall before teammates Jarome Luai and Sunia Turuva took aim at the youngster on social media.
Next followed accusations of workplace bullying with Galvin issuing his former club with a legal citing allegations of unfair treatment.
The bombshell decision turned into one of the biggest sagas of the NRL season and ultimately ended in Galvin being granted an immediate release last week.
Over the weekend he was officially unveiled as a Bulldog and in his first opportunity to speak perfectly, Galvin fired some bullets.
“They are always here for each other, all the boys have each other’s backs,” he said about his first impressions of the club. “I just want to keep working hard, getting in here and learning all their systems.
“Watching and seeing the path that the Bulldogs are on at the moment and how they are going week in and week out, I think has really drawn me to the club,” Galvin said.
“Getting in here now, it’s really exciting and meeting Ciro and all the assistants, it’s pretty cool.
“The way they are speaking to me and telling me how the club is going at the moment, I really want to be a part of (that).”
When asked about the impact of coach Cameron Ciraldo, he added: “I just think he is a real leader.
“I think he is driving standards here that are pretty cool and something that I obviously want to be a part of.
“So getting to know him more and more as the season goes on and the next three years that I’m here is going to be pretty cool.
“I can’t wait to be having conversations in his office, hopefully good ones. I can’t wait.”
