CAULFIELD
Race 2 | 2. Sixteen Reasons (top 5)
She hasn’t been in an amazing form but a trainer change and a wide gate I think helps today. She win this race last year and I think this is a slight bit easier than her recent racing. She doesn’t get a huge amount of luck but that’s her pattern, hence I like the wide gate to wind up late like last year. Takeko will ensure speed and that allows her the chance to run into Top 5 which is all we need on a soft track that she relishes.
Race 4 | 18. Ant (each-way)
Gets back anyway so the gate isn't a huge concern, in saying that luck is again of the essence. I love the step up to 2000 which is his best distance and has won 3rd up before. Soft track is a plus and is carrying no weight. He will be a while off them and the obvious speed is now scratched but hoping a couple get involved early and they go along. If that happens this bloke will be storming home and a great each way play at a minimum.
Race 5 | 4. Gilded Water
Everything went wrong resuming and the vet report told us so. Horribly drawn today, ear muffs among other gear changes on, he is a quirky horse and he got ridden quietly in a trial. His best is when he rolls up front but from that gate and everything I mentioned makes me think he might actually go back. In saying all that, he is the classiest horse in the race and I'm with him because of it. Runs well at the track, 2000m works (albeit up from 1800) and his 2nd up from is delish. Million reasons not to back him but I only need one and that is he is better than these and I trust the trainer to make sure he is ready to go!
Race 6 | 13. Set Me Loose
This is a step up but she is a filly who has plenty of ability and will prove it today. Drawn perfectly to go and hold the rails and she has a bit of untapped about her. Handles the toe into the ground and staying at the 1000 2nd up is when she embarrassed them at YV. She is well weighted and drawn better than the 2 market dangers and will be very hard to catch. Like her a lot!!
ROSEHILL
Race 3 | 9. Gorgeous
She has been costly this prep some her fault some outside of her control (bad gate last start) Nose roll off today and from that gate I expect her to be closer to the front than the back. Well weighted and soft track no issue. Not going overboard on this girl but I think she is too talented to not win a race in a 5 race prep.
Race 4 | 17. Maybe Moet
This girl is crying out for 1400m again and gets it first time this prep. Her run last start was huge. The speed (Namaste / Big Papa) will ensure that she can run on and the soft track is a win. She will need a little luck being drawn inside but if she gets some galloping room she will be storming home and be very hard to stop late.
Race 6 | 2. Black Run (each-way)
An absolute speed map bet on a horse who loves 2400. He'll dawdle along in front and do whatever speed he wants. Track conditions are perfect and his run last start when better by a classy horse was perfect for this. I like his setup for 2400 and then KP and expect BR to run a hell of a race!
Race 8 | 6. Zaphod
All this bloke has done recently is knock on the door of nice horses in good races. Today well weighted and perfectly drawn he will do zero work! Market missed him those last 2 and this is a little easier but we still get a decent price. Handles all conditions , think he might be stronger late than GW over the 2000 and will look the winner at some point in the straight.
Race 9 | 14. Sanctified
Comes back to the 1200 from a much better gate than last start where the gate more than the trip told late. Win 2 back was really good and holds her in good company today. Speed is a little confusing after scratchings but KM can be on speed if they go slow early. He is fit and back a little in trip helps a little if they do end up going faster than I think. Always runs well and will beat these! 1 out in the quaddie!!
Race 10 | 1. Elliptical (top 6)
I'm going back to the well with this bloke but the SB More places allows me to back this bloke again at a price. He will get back but they will go fast. Up again in trip works and he will be storming home again late on a surface that works. $3.60 to run home and beat a few home is nice and wouldn’t be stunned if he ran into placings as he is classy.
EAGLE FARM
Race 6 | 2. Future History
This horse just never runs poorly. Had no gate luck resuming and then the run back to 1800 was great. Both those races are better than this. A drying track helps but soft track is no major hinderance and has won at 2400 before. Think he will go forward and be in absolute control at whatever speed NR wants and I think that will be the difference and won't be caught!
Race 8 | 3. Manaal
This is an open G1 but this setup and goal seems perfect for this girl. She was good 1st up and with a smidge of luck probably wins. Her 2nd up form is nearly perfect and only time she isn’t in the finish is in top tier races. I think BM will cruise along and lead with others drawn worse and then he can use her ability to quicken slowly and grind them into the ground. 1400 is the perfect swansong distance and she will be might hard to get passed!

CAULFIELD
Race 3 | 1. Custom (best)
Resumes and is ready to go off her trials. She won her maiden fresh two preps ago and since then she’s raced in group and listed grade without disgracing herself. Draws well to get the gun run and she looks the best filly in the race.
Race 4 | 2. Savour The Dream
Smashed the field last start with Oak Beach running second to him. He came out and won by 3.5 lengths franking the form. Does get back in the run so will need luck in this big field.
Race 6 | 1. Shining Smile (value)
Is over the odds as he drops back to his own age. Draws pole, pet trip and has held himself against much better opposition to this in the past. Well worth an each-way ticket.
ROSEHILL
Race 3 | 9. Gorgeous
Has been frustrating but I think she finally finds her race. Unlucky three runs back in a listed race and she hasn’t been far away since. Draws perfect to sit just off the pace and have last crack.
Race 6 | 2. Black Run
Just got beat in a listed race last start and will find this easier. Draws pole and will dictate the race, has won two from three over the trip, conditions suit and will be hard to beat.
