From humble beginnings to a growing community powerhouse, Koo Wee Rup Junior Football Club continues to thrive in Victoria’s south-east.
Founded in 2014 with one team, the club has come a long way in just over a decade.
Based in the heart of Koo Wee Rup, the Demons play in the West Gippsland Junior Football Competition and have become a vital part of the local sporting landscape.
In its early years, the club battled low player numbers and worked tirelessly to field full teams, particularly after Covid disrupted life across the country, but the Demons’ story is one of perseverance and community spirit.
Through the dedication of their volunteers and the support of local families, they have turned the tide and now field five teams across multiple age groups to cement themselves as a junior footy success story, winning three premierships, being runner-up four times and claiming three WGJFC Best Conducted Club awards recognising strong values and sportsmanship.
At the heart of the Demons’ rise is their unwavering family-first culture – a philosophy that promotes inclusion, teamwork, and enjoyment above all else.
Leading it all is president Dwayne Lester, whose passion, leadership and countless hours behind the scenes have shaped the club’s direction and community impact.
Members and parents believe Lester is the backbone of their club, saying his dedication ensures every child who wants to play footy in Koo Wee Rup can do so in a safe, welcoming environment.

The club is supported by long-time sponsor Pakenham Toyota, whose contributions have helped fund vital equipment, uniforms and resources that support player development.
