Banged-up Magpie Jordan De Goey is set for the sidelines once again, going down with concussion at training on Tuesday morning.
The 29-year-old has experienced a series of injuries over the course of 2025, featuring in just five games and last appearing against Geelong in Round 8.
Taking significant time off due to an Achilles concern, Collingwood coach Craig McRae stated that the Pies would “play the long game” with De Goey, commencing a running program in early June in attempt to have the star back for a strong run of games prior to the finals.
As reported by 7News journalist Xander McGuire, De Goey’s battle with injury has taken yet another hit, copping a concussion during the Pies’ Tuesday training ahead of their clash with Carlton on Friday night.
Following a groin, Achilles, abdomen, knee and lower leg issues, the banged-up Magpie will now miss a minimum of 12 days with concussion, missing both of Collingwood’s Friday night games against the Blues and the Suns in Round 18.
Beyond De Goey, the Magpies are preparing for half back Brayden Maynard to return this week off the back of a torn plantar fascia, while the expected absence of Steele Sidebottom (illness) may see the return of Brownlow Medallist Tom Mitchell.
Mitchell has featured in seven games for Collingwood’s VFL setup, winning best on ground twice and averaging 27.8 disposals, eight tackles and seven clearances since returning to full game time.
