The 2026 Doncaster Mile headlines Day 1 of The Championships, run over the famous Randwick mile with a capacity field chasing one of Australia’s most prestigious handicaps.
A big field typically ensures pressure throughout, and with multiple runners capable of rolling forward, the race shapes to be run at a genuinely solid tempo.
Randwick’s long straight will give every runner their chance, but those settling midfield with cover and building from the 600m are often suited.

Vivy Air comes through the Coolmore Classic where she endured an interrupted run yet still produced sharp closing sectionals, running the 10th fastest L100m of the meeting. She'll relish the mile and will be rattling home late.
Headley Grange could be Sydney's most improved horse. He comes via the strong G1 George Ryder, maps a treat and retains Jason Collett. Ticks plenty of boxes.
Sheza Alibi produced a clear career peak in the Randwick Guineas and deserved to be favourite. This is her toughest test to date, with the biggest query to her being the potential of a rain affected track. A repeat of her last start is enough to win, just hard to back at the price.
