Tasracing’s Sunday best bets at Hobart (06/07)

It is a feature program in Hobart on Sunday, with a nine-race card that includes the $50,000 Kevin Sharkie 2YO Sires Produce.
A recent theme of strong cards in the south of Tassie has continued with a pair of open handicaps, also a highlight of the day.
The rail is +3m, and I'd expect the track to race in the 4-5 range.

Race 6 – 5. Skin In The Game
Skin In The Game can continue its charge through the grades and make it four wins in succession. He’s been very well placed by trainer Brendan McShane, never having to leave Hobart or the 1400m distance, which is his scenario again on Sunday. He relished a genuine tempo to win by a space last time and will get in with 2kg less for the rise to class 4 level. He’s a very exciting prospect going forward.

Race 4 – 5. Obviously Good
Obviously Good gave Skin In The Game all he could handle last start, which looks very good form for this race. After drawing low gates at all three Tasmanian starts, I think barrier 10 could be a blessing for Obviously Good, with most riders wanting to position themselves in the middle of the track at recent Hobart meetings. Trainer Siggy Carr has spaced his runs with a trial in between, the same formula that saw him run well last time out.

Race 1 – 15. Zurich
Zurich needs a scratching to gain a start in the opener, but I’ll be having something on him if he’s in the race. He’s proven himself to be a backmarker in four Tasmanian starts, so the wide draw is no disadvantage. Two starts back, he was the best sectional closer in a race dominated from the front, and last time in Devonport, Zurich would’ve finished much closer to the winner had the rider not put the white flag up very quickly. It’s a deep maiden/class 1 which will see each-way odds about Zurich if he gets into the field.
