Munster exits QLD camp amid tragic family loss
Queensland’s Cameron Munster has departed from Origin camp following the tragic news of the passing of his father overnight.
The Maroons captain left camp on the Sunshine Coast early this morning, just three days from Origin 3 in Sydney.
Confirming the news of Steven Munster’s death this morning, Billy Slater stated that despite the sudden loss, the captain has committed to playing in the Origin decider this Wednesday night.
“Unfortunately we woke to the sad news of the passing of Cameron Munster’s father Steven Munster overnight,” Slater said on Sunday morning.
“Cam will exit camp to be with his family before rejoining his team for the game on Wednesday.
“On behalf of myself and our footy team and the state of Queensland, we send our thoughts, our love and condolences to Steven Munster’s family and friends, in particular his wife Debbie, his daughter Danielle and of course his son Cameron.”
Munster was awarded man of the match in Origin 2, and while spending the coming days with family during this difficult period, has confirmed his determination to feature in Wednesday’s decider.
Is the Origin decider just another game for Dylan Edwards?
