Friday night racing returns to the Ladbrokes Racing Centre in Launceston for the third time this month.
There was heavy run in Launceston on Wednesday, but the weather forecast looks better leading into the meeting. The rail is +8m 1200m-WP, +7 remainder, out from +6m a week ago.

Race 6 – 4. Wheeling
I struggled for a standout on this card, and I’ve landed on Wheeling in the small field. He is a fast horse, so it was no surprise to see him scoot around the Longford 800m in quick time recently. I think he can cross Quicken Up in this race, and I’m expecting on-pace to be particularly advantageous with the rail +8m. The stable has bobbed up with a couple of winners recently, and hopefully, Wheeling can continue the run.

Race 7 – 4. Verbano
I will immediately contradict myself and give out Verbano as a special who will likely settle off pace! She had the race shape in her favour last time, but was particularly impressive with Sh’bourne Midnight, a huge chance to frank the form earlier. There should be a decent battle for the lead here, with Original Glaze, Shy Guy, Exalted Crown, and Metaverse all capable of leading, and pressure up front can set the race for Verbano to repeat what she did last time.

Race 3 – 1. Striding Bay
I’m following my money on Striding Bay after giving him out at big odds last time. That was a tough watch as he was badly checked near the home turn when starting to build into the race. The way he finished after that interference tells me he would’ve gone close that night, and I can’t see why he won’t do the same with better luck. Once again, he’s a big price.
