Tasracing's Friday best bets at Launceston (20/03)

Friday night racing is in Launceston, the first of two Tasmanian thoroughbred meetings for the weekend.
It’s a good card, with some strong races, particularly through the quaddie legs.
The rail moves out to +4m after being at +1m for the meeting last Friday night, and fine weather is forecast.
Best Bet
Race 2 – 6. California Flyer
Ex-Victorian mare bred in Tasmania, hence she finds her way back home for a maiden race worth $35,000 to winning connections, with the Tasbred bonus attached. Her Victorian form is superior to this field and from barrier 1, Chloe Wells should either lead or box seat behind the speed and get every chance from there. I’ve marked the horse pretty aggressively, but I think anything in the black is a fair price.
Best Value
Race 7 – 3. Earendel
I’m hoping it’s a good night at the office for Chloe Wells, as I’ve also found her for my value play. After a sensational first-up win, last campaign never really got out of first gear for Earendel, eventually finishing down the track as the Devonport Cup favourite. He won first-up at the track and distance in October, and is generally a good fresh horse who trialled up well behind a subsequent winner. It’s a quality fair, but at $7 at the time of writing, I think he’s entitled to be shorter.
Best Roughie
Race 8 – 7. Lindrum
We’re finishing the night with one at double figures. Lindrum ran a decent race here on Launceston Cup Day, and then I don’t think he was suited by the drop in distance, or the synthetic surface last start. He’s having his third start for the stable and gets back to a track and trip where he’s a two-time winner and will only carry 52kg.
