‘Such an easy decision’: Knights re-signing no-brainer for Kiwi Ferns star

Kiwi Ferns star Tiana Davison believes her decision to stick with Newcastle will be a key to elevating her game in the NRLW.
Davison recently extended her contract with the team, securing three more seasons through to the end of 2029.
When asked why she opted to stay with the club, she said it was a simple choice.
“It's the sense of belonging," Davison told Sport Nation’s Six Again podcast.
"For me it's a home away from home now here in Newcastle and I give full credit to the club for making me feel welcomed.
“Connections that I have both on and off the field with the people from the club just made it such an easy decision.”
A move back home to New Zealand was never on the cards for Taranaki-born Davison, as she feels there isn’t the same level of access for women in the sport.
But she hopes to remain an inspiration for young Kiwis from across the ditch, and says she will continue to prove what she’s capable of overseas.

“As someone who has been given the opportunity to leave home and try their hand at a semi-professional sport, I take that on my shoulders and carry that quite heavily to show our young tamariki and rangatahi that there are opportunities outside of our small place of Taranaki,” Davison said.
Now an established NRLW player, Davison’s goals are ambitious, as she hopes to help lead the Knights to a third title - her second with the side.
She advised rival clubs not to underestimate the Newcastle squad, who she says are determined to “lift that trophy” at the end of the season.
“This year we're out for redemption,” Davison warned.
“They do sleep on us and I think we're in for a really good season this year, they can't take us lightly.”
The Knights women face their next challenge on July 11, playing 2025 finalists the Roosters away from home in Sydney.
