The Seattle Seahawks' smothering defence has proved the difference in a 29-13 defeat of the New England Patriots at Super Bowl LX.
The Seahawks turned the screws in San Francisco and the Patriots failed to score until the final quarter, capturing the franchise’s second Lombardi Trophy and their first since 2014.
Seattle’s suffocating defence set the tone early, keeping the Patriots scoreless through three quarters while kicker Jason Myers delivered a Super Bowl-record night with five field goals.
Offensively, Sam Darnold and Kenneth Walker paced the Seahawks, while turnovers and pressure derailed New England’s attack.
Walker was named MVP, becoming the first running back to win the award since 1998, finishing with 135 rushing yards.
He starred as they built a 19-0 lead, the Seahawks' 'Dark Side' defence stifled Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, who was sacked six times on a woeful night for the second-year general.
The game was decided long before the final-quarter fireworks. Seattle strangled New England, forcing turnovers, collapsing pockets and keeping the Patriots scoreless until late.
The Seahawks didn’t always sparkle on offence, but they were efficient, grinding field position, controlling the clock and punishing mistakes.
Latino star Bad Bunny stole the show at halftime, lighting up Levi's Stadium with a memorable performance which included Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin.
