The Formula One season heads towards the Belgian Grand Prix next with New Zealand's own Liam Lawson currently 10th in the driver's championship - and he's making a run for a higher placing as he continues to string together a consistent 2026 campaign.
Lawson sits only three points shy of Alpine driver Pierre Gasly following a P6 finish at Silverstone. His latest results comes off the back of points finishes in Austria, Barcelona, Monaco and Canada. Through the nine Grand Prix this season, the Kiwi driver has only failed to score points in Australia and Miami.
“I think this year is the first year we're seeing a fully prepared Liam Lawson because he got the full pre-season test program in. He hasn't changed teams at any point in the last year," PlanetF1.com editor Thomas Maher told Sport Nation Mornings.
"So we're now seeing a settled Liam Lawson, and he is absolutely producing the goods that I think everyone kind of expected him to do at Red Bull last year."

Lawson's teammate Arvid Lindblad, who finished P7 in Austria, is currently 11th in the drivers' standings, and as a team, they are one point shy of midfield rivals Alpine Racing in the Constructors' Championship.
Recent reports suggest that the Racing Bulls teammates may not be on the best of terms, with competition sparking between the two, seemingly.
“Neither driver has really had a pop at the other in public through the media sessions. There was some tension after Austria, simply because Lawson had been told that he would not be attacked by Arvid Lindblad straight out of the pits,” Maher said.
"They were told to conserve their brakes, and Lindblad didn't really seem to do that, whether that was a miscommunication or not.
“These are both very young, very hungry guys driving for the junior team and eager to prove their worth to Red Bull. So for now I would view it as just a kind of racing driver misunderstanding rather than outright, you know, dislike or any sort of, you know, contempt between the two of them."
Maher also noted that rumours of Max Verstappen signing with McLaren are circling, with possible animosity in the Red Bull camp after a rear wing failure caused the former world champion to potentially miss a podium finish with four laps remaining - instead hitting the gravel at Stowe corner to DNF at Silverstone while in third place.
“Apparently there are tensions in the camp between Red Bull and the Verstappen camp; Max is not feeling particularly listened to within the team,” Maher said.
