Ryan Wood and Jaxon Evans will join forces at Walkinshaw TWG with a clear goal of an All-Kiwi sweep of the Bathurst 1000.
Wellington’s Wood will embark on his third Bathurst appearance as a main driver, with Levin’s Evans joining him as co-driver in the all new GR Toyota Supra.
In 2025, Wood suffered a heartbreaking late-race mechanical failure while leading the race, leaving the door wide open for fellow Kiwi and friend Matt Payne to claim victory.
Evans was also a full-time Supercars racer before parting ways with Brad Jones Racing as the team transitioned to a three-car Toyota operation.
“I'm excited to hopefully try and win Bathurst together,” he told Sport Nation Afternoons.
“He's gonna be a really, really fast co-driver and I am excited to see how he goes."
Wood believes the move to Walkinshaw TWG can provide Evans with the platform to remind the paddock exactly what he can do.
“Jaxon's obviously fresh out of the main game last year and I'm really excited to give him an opportunity to be in a good car, a good team, and hopefully prove to everyone that he's the real deal because I certainly think he is.”
The two have quickly developed a strong bond, helped by their shared Kiwi background.
“We get along really well. Obviously he's a real Kiwi guy as well so it's been a lot of fun so far.
“He's a ripper dude and comes from a ripper family and I they’re just really excited for this as well.”
The occasion could mark a third Kiwi clean sweep, with Greg Murphy and Steven Richards winning in 1999 and Shane van Gisbergen and Richie Stanaway in 2023.
