Wests Tigers captain Jarome Luai has hit out at the “disrespectful” comments towards coach Benji Marshall from Lachlan Galvin’s management.
Luai fronted the media alongside co-captain Api Koroisau and insisted there was no lingering bad blood between he and halves partner Galvin but this latest saga has put a small dent in the relationship.
“My relationship with Lachie has been good up until this point,” Luai said.
“There’s definitely no hard feelings. Everyone is entitled to do what’s best for their future.
“With what’s been said, I believe (Marshall) has been disrespected. I don’t stand for that.
“You disrespect him, you disrespect us as a team.
“The thing that has disrupted our team are the comments around the coach.”
Luai posted an Instagram story with the caption ‘Team First’ following the news on Tuesday afternoon that Galvin had been dropped to NSW Cup.
The four-time Premiership winner said the social media post was a show of solidarity towards the coach and would have no issue with Galvin being welcomed back into the first grade side.
“I was throwing support behind the coach and what we stand for as a club.
“We are working hard to build a team first culture.
“If the timing is right (for Galvin to return), if he’s in the right mindset, his heart is in the right place and he’s earnt the right to put on the jersey, then yes.
“Hopefully (Galvin) has a good team around him and is getting things sorted.”
Marshall, Luai and Koroisau rejected claims that the social media posts were bullying and insisted that there was no bullying culture within the club.
Turuva posted an image to his close friend's story on Instagram which was later made public.
The post depicted Galvin’s locker with the WWE walk on song ‘Here comes the money.’
“I don’t think it was meant for everybody,” Luai added.
“If anyone knows Tito (Turuva), he’s a jokeful (sic.) dude so you’ll have to ask him.
“I think he should stay off social media for a while.”
The Tigers take on the Parramatta Eels on Easter Monday at CommBank Stadium.
Meanwhile, Galvin will run out for the Western Suburb Magpies in the NSW Cup on Monday afternoon against Parramatta at Lidcombe Oval.
