How Dylan Brown can help the Eels avoid going 0-5
SEN’s Greg Alexander thinks that Parramatta’s Dylan Brown needs to improve his game to help justify his $13 million price tag.
The five-eighth has not had the greatest start to the season as he takes on added responsibility, with his usual halves partner Mitchell Moses out with injury.
Brown has seen a reduction in his ability to run the ball as he currently averages 88 running meters per game this season compared to his average of 116 running meters per game in 2024.
His kicking game has declined averaging 60 kicking meters per game compared to 102 this time last year.
Alexander believes that if Brown can get his running game back to where it was, then Parramatta will have every chance to win their first game of 2025.

“We called the game last week and at a stage through the game we said, this bloke on $1.3 million for ten years not playing like that,” Alexander said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.
“Ran early in the game as he did in the previous week, put it to bed in the second half.
“He’s got to run the ball for the 80 minutes, he needs to have a dozen runs, continue to take the line on.
“I think if he does, Parramatta can win the game.”
With reports suggesting that Mitchell Moses will be absent until at least Magic Round in Round 9, the pressure will only intensify around Brown and his contract with Newcastle if he is unable to improve.
The Eels will be hoping to get out of 17th place and win their first game for the season when they play St George Illawarra at CommBank Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
If the Eels do lose, it will be the first time since 2018 that they start the season 0-5 which saw them eventually finish with the wooden spoon.
