Healy pays tribute to Starc ahead of 100th Test

Aussie cricket great Ian Healy has paid tribute to Mitchell Starc ahead of the quick’s 100th Test.
Starc brings up the ton when the Aussies meet the West Indies in Jamaica in a pink ball Test, fittingly a format he has dominated like no other with his 74 wickets in 13 Tests… Nathan Lyon is the next best with 43.
The left-armer is set to become the bowler (min. 100 wickets) with the best strike rate of any 100+ Test players in the game’s history at 48.0. Ravi Ashwin is next best at 50.7, followed by Glenn McGrath at 51.9 deliveries per wicket.
Healy, who is the uncle of Starc’s wife and Australian cricket star Alyssa, hailed the 35-year-old for his brilliant record, toughness and ability to take key wickets in big moments.
“100 is up for the stunt and pad ripper. A man that will rip your pegs out,” Healy said on SENQ Breakfast.
“Mitchell Starc is the 11th specialist quick to make it to 100 Tests. Five of those have better averages than him, but not strike rates (which he has the best of any bowler to reach the figure).
“He’s taken 395 wickets, and for 15 years, he's maintained high speeds. Nothing's dropped off, he’s still in the mid-140s.
“In pink ball Tests, he's got 74 wickets at 18, and fittingly that’s what they’re playing in Jamaica this weekend.
“He's had back, knee, ankle, calf, foot, shin and finger tendon injury to get through.
“I'm not only acknowledging his 100th Test, Mitch Starc, but I'm calling him extremely tough.
“There's never any fuss. What a high-quality teammate.”
