Fairweather claims third 2026 Commonwealth Games medal

Erika Fairweather has claimed her third medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, finishing second in the Women's 1500m Freestyle final on Monday (NZ Time).
The 22-year-old was “super stoked” to record a time of 15:58.97, finishing 2.40 seconds clear of Australia’s Molly Walker in the game's first-ever 1500m freestyle final.
“That was my first time swimming the 1500 in a long-course pool at an event of this calibre so I’m really happy with that,” Fairweather said after the race.

Fellow Kiwis Caitlin Deans finished 5th with a new personal best, while Eve Thomas finished 8th, but it was Australian Lani Pallister who took Gold, finishing 17.94 ahead.
Fairweather also claimed Silver in 400m Freestyle and Bronze in 200m Freestyle over the weekend, being New Zealand's highest achiever at the games so far.
