There is a small note of good news for Australian Supercars driver Nick Percat after the three races at Taupo International Motorsport Park didn’t go his way.

New Zealand Police have confirmed they will not be moving forward with any action following his burnouts on the streets of Taupō last Thursday evening as part of the Track to Town promotion.

"Police have made enquiries into this matter and worked closely with Supercars, the team, and driver of the vehicle to have a prevention conversation regarding this incident," the official statement from New Zealand Police reads.
"We are satisfied with this outcome and no further action is required." While the burnouts were massively popular with fans, the authorities took a more dim view.

Last week's burnouts and the subsequent investigations were the start of a poor weekend for Percat who finished near the bottom of the field in all three races. (19th, 15th and 23rd)

The results were particularly disappointing as he had shown excellent pace at the previous Supercars round at Albert Park (part of the Melbourne Grand Prix) twice finishing on the podium.

The Taupō round was an opportunity missed for Percat, as his teammate Cameron Hill showed there was pace in the Matt Stone Racing car, finishing second to New Zealand’s Matt Payne in the final race of the weekend.

The next round of the Supercars Championship will be from May 9th to 11th, at Symmons Plains Raceway for the Tasmania Super 440.
