Wednesday best bets from Luke & Pfitzner (17/06)
Cam Luke & Miles Pfitzner have your Wednesday sorted on Trackside.
The lads have taken a close look at Caulfield Heath, Canterbury & Belmont in a bid to find the family some winners.
See their best bets below:👇
Cam Luke
CAULFIELD HEATH
Race 3 | 3. Vega Vixen
Was great here on debut and expect her from that gate to have a very soft control of this race. She was decent in a better race at Flemington last start and maybe a little close to the fence as winner was wider. Drier track also will help and a little flat spot before hitting the line at 1100 makes me think no dramas with the 1200m today. Fave (Farmelia) was great beating the other horses on debut but again will go back and give a better talent to much of a start today.
Race 7 | 3. Cavalry Girl
Was some barrier trouble last stat and she was in a long time and stepped badly. Got ridden cold which isn't her style. Bouncing and running is and I assume CW will be trying to do that today even from a wide gate. She loves the 1000 and a drying track, she is also a little down in the weights but the race only reads like that on ratings, not in actual depth. The other two in the market ran in the same race and are a smidge worse off at the weights. She isn't one out in the quad but she will take a mountain of catching around a track she runs well at.
Race 8 | 1. Dancing Storm
This is easier than last time we did see him when he was on the back of RDR and DZ over 1200. Has had over two months off and he does run well fresh. Drawn well to try and be prominent with the 3kg claim (EP also riding well) Drying track a positive as well. Forget the fact he hasn’t won over 1200 as they have been tougher than these races. A couple others go in the quaddie but this bloke is over the odds and a great each way play!
CANTERBURY
Race 2 | 2. Demerzel
Was pretty good on debut where she will benefit from being at the track! She is a rangy filly so the step up to the 1250 is an obvious advantage. She also maps her to get an easier lead than last start when she sat OSL and raced a touch greenly. Handled the Heavy but think a drying track would be a benefit as well in her career.
Race 3 | 3. By Napolean Hill
Shouldn’t be in the race as should have won on debut. Going to need a smidge of luck from that gate as well but Nash in the saddle helps. I can see him sliding forward and making the fave work hard to lead or maybe even take a sit, either way its speed map positive to NH. Got backed last start and was stiff, this time will control race and be hard to hold out.
Race 4 | 7. Claudel
Was pretty good on debut when hunted up early, sat OSL (leader won) but was left a little flat footed when star gazing. She does drop 50m in trip but from that gate with a relatively good speed map, she will control the race. She will be helped by being at the races for a 2nd time . Another advantage is the fact Our Huntress is drawn awkwardly (also has had chances) and the main danger King for A Day is drawn barrier 2 which may not work as he is likely to get back. He will enjoy the trip rise though.
Race 7 | 4. Madrina
This is quite simply a speed map bet. Drawn perfectly back to the 1200 she will be in the perfect spot. Last time over 6 furlongs was In a tougher race in Saturday grade and she sat OSL and too fast. The pressure today as she holds fence will be a lot less. Claim for CK works as does toe in the ground. Only been here once and ran well, a few others in an open race go into the Quaddie but Madrina will be hard to beat!
