Trade Talk: Could this Collingwood pair be on the move?

SEN’s Sam Edmund has provided a trade update on Collingwood’s Darcy Cameron and Brody Mihocek as they currently weigh up their options.
In recent years, Collingwood has been focused on bringing experienced talent into the club through either free agency or trading draft picks.
This has seen the likes of Dan Houston, Lachie Schultz, Dan McStay, Tim Membrey, and Tom Mitchell join the club and had contributing roles to the side’s success across the last three years.
And it appears that Collingwood is set on continuing the trend this year, with reports that they are interested in signing Carlton’s Jack Silvagni, who is an unrestricted free agent.
But by being so active in the trade space, this can come at the risk of losing some of your existing players.
For instance, Cameron, who only just signed a one-year extension last year, is currently being wooed by rival clubs like the West Coast Eagles, who can offer more money compared to Collingwood.
But Magpies officials are hopeful that the offer they have put to the ruckman will be enough to keep him.
“So, Cameron is the All-Australian contender playing on the cheap,” Edmund explained on SEN’s Crunch Time.
“Now, he agreed to that deal in March of last year. It was a one-year add-on to the deal he had until the end of 2025.
“So, if you’re Collingwood, you’re probably sitting there thinking, ‘Hang on, you agreed to this five minutes ago, and now you’re asking for more?’
“But this guy is playing for around $450,000 a year. He is the cheapest star in the game, just about. He wants a pay rise.
“So, Collingwood are mindful of that; they’ve presented something. Is it enough? So, there’s a wrestle there.”
Edmund also provided a brief update on Mihocek’s contract situation, with negotiations stalling over the length of his contract.
“Mihocek has been offered a one-year deal,” Edmund detailed.
“A very modest one. He wants another year on that.”
Mihocek has reportedly had multiple clubs express interest in his signature, with the Herald Sun’s Jon Ralph naming Sydney and Melbourne as some of the clubs interested.
Cameron and Mihocek will both feature for Collingwood as they face off against fellow top-four side the Brisbane Lions at the MCG on Saturday night.
