In local golf news, Golf Australia is gearing up for the SA 80th Women’s Country Week which will be taking place from Tuesday 21st of July to Thursday 23rd of July. Hosted in partnership with the Balaklava Golf Club, Wallaroo Golf Club, and Mt. Gambier Golf Club, the event also includes the South Australian Women’s Country Bronze Championship, and South Australian Women’s Country Championship, with the winning teams being able to keep and display their trophy until the following year.

Who can attend?
The three day event is open to all female amateur golfers with a Golf Australia handicap and who are members of a club affiliated with Golf Australia. This means that interstate players are eligible to attend and participate in some events so long as they have a recorded handicap that fits within the guidelines for the event they’re looking to enter.
Note: flights, accommodation, and travel insurance are not included in the entry fee for this event, so players who are looking to fly or drive for the weekend are encouraged to finalise logistical arrangements as promptly as possible.
What events are taking place?
The SA 80th Women’s Country Week Golf Championships consist of three separate tournaments, all taking place at their own dedicated club and course. Find a full overview of details for each tournament below.
Bronze Salver (Wallaroo Golf Club)
Taking place at the Wallaroo Golf Club from Monday 20th July - Thursday 23rd of July, the Bronze Salver Country Meeting is open to female amateur golfers with a GA 16.1 to 30.
The tournament will take place across six events in total, the sixth of which will be the official SA Bronze Country Championship. Note, however, that interstate players won’t qualify for the SA Bronze Country Championship, as eligibility for qualifying demands players have their Home Club as a Member Club of a Country District affiliated with Golf Australia (SA).
For the Bronze Salver, the full event list is as follows:
  • Event 1: Bronze Salver – 36 holes stableford across Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd. Winner to hold SA Country Bronze Salver for one year.
  • Event 2: Daily stableford.
  • Event 3: Veterans’ stableford aggregate event – 36 holes stableford. Open to all players who have reached their 70th birthday by the first day of play.
  • Event 4: Country vs. Metro Salver – Country and Metro will be represented by 12 players each to be drawn from the entrants prior to the first day of play.
  • Event 5: 18 hole stableford foursomes – Taking place on Thursday 23rd.
  • Event 6: SA Bronze Country Championship – 36 holes stableford.
Bronze Shield (Mt. Gambier Golf Club)
Taking place at the Mt. Gambier Golf Club in Worrolong, the Bronze Shield Country Meeting is open to female amateur golfers with a GA 25.1 to 54.
This tournament will take place over five events total, with the event list as follows:

Like the Bronze Salver, the tournament will take place across six events, the sixth of which will be the official SA Country Championship. Again, interstate players won’t qualify for the SA Bronze Country Championship, as eligibility for qualifying demands players have their Home Club as a Member Club of a Country District affiliated with Golf Australia (SA).
For the Silver Salver, the full event list is as follows:
  • Event 1: Silver Salver – 36 holes stroke play (gross aggregate). Winner to hold SA Country Silver Salver for one year.
