Saturday best bets from Luke & Taggart (11/07)
Cam Luke & David Taggart have your Saturday sorted on Trackside.
The lads have taken a close look at Caulfield & Randwick in a bid to find the family some winners.
See their best bets below:👇

CAULFIELD
Race 5 | 12. Amleto
Was OK last start when giving weight to the winner but that is a little more equalled today. Drawn nicely to have another gun run and the soft track is perfect. Wouldn't want to be much shorter than $2.50 but I am a little concerned where the fave gets in the run unlike last start where she had it perfect. That’s the reason I am with this bloke to turn the tables!
Race 6 | 3. Our Chief
I think this bloke will get away with murder out in front. He had to work too hard from a wide gate last start but it was also his first crack at the 2000m this prep. That fourth-up has him at his beat. If Jamie Mott can find a switch off a furlong or two in the run, they won't get him!
Race 8 | 2. Rise At Dawn
I love this bloke and this is an easier race than his last two preps and he will get run of the race. Has trialled up really well and I like the 1400m kick off. Nice use of the claim with a young guy in form and soft track is ideal. I really liked him in the Stradbroke last year but the seven day (circumstance) back up flattened him. He loves Caulfield and he will be aimed towards a G1 this prep and I find this race to be the perfect kick off in a winning style.
Race 9 | 9. First Chorus
Draws a gate that is a lot more helpful than the last couple and she will be better placed today in a race that likely has some speed. Pattern also didn’t give her a chance so forget that and focus on the fact she enjoys Caulfield. I would love rain in the meeting and this get back to heavy but still got confidence about her. 1700m is prime and she is my best of the afternoon in Melbourne.
RANDWICK
Race 3 | 16. Diamond Model (each-way/top 5)
Scratchings have changed this race since I backed this mare at a price to run to five. She is by far the best heavy track horse in the race and back to the 1600m is a lovely tick. Anna Roper takes 2kgs off the back and she has no weight and there is a little speed inside her so she should be able to settle midfield and have a crack middle of track. I'm 100 per cent certain she will run top five and very confident she can run a place.
Race 4 | 1. Benevac
Was super last start when beaten on the line when sat OSL which was against the rest of the race. Stays at the 1100m, will control and heavy track is no drama. They use the Siena Grima claim and gets in lighter and I doubt they catch him. $2.20 is rock bottom albeit it’s a five horse race. I haven't backed him at that price but he is one out in the early quaddie.
Race 6 | 3. Petticoat
Struggled to find any major speed in this race so by default this is a speed map bet! Mollie Fitzgerald takes weight off and there is no Ice Kool in this race. Heavy track shouldn't be any issue albeit its been a while. 1000m prep so far has worked and like it into a fourth-up run where control is there. Jock will be able to angle to best part of the track in the straight and kick and find a length or two. That should make him almost impossible to catch.
Race 7 | 9. Boniface
This bloke is primed third-up here in Australia and had he drawn a nice gate, I would have let loose. I really like him as I did last start where he had chances but in hindsight I'm not sure he loved being surrounded by horses. That won't happen today. As long as he gets a backside from that shocking gate, he can launch down the middle. I think being outside will be preferred for him. 1800m third-up is perfect and wet track is lovely but heavy track a question but I'll back him to enjoy it, being European. He gets weight off the fav and as I type this I'm becoming more keen again and suggest you launch. Best of the day in the Harbour city!
Race 8 | 8. Seven's
Was really good last start but does have to carry more weight today. Loves the slop and will get back a little but the speed is there to give the chance (Creator/Conchiero) amongst others). Was pretty good a couple back in a very similar race over the 1600m and back to the mile today works. A lot of these have similar form lines but without the bias from last start this bloke will get that deserved win this prep.

CAULFIELD
Race 2 | 2. Zouper Fund (best)
Was OK first up in what was a harder race to this. Draws pole to race closer to the speed and comes in very well at the weights after the Jabez's claim. Second-up form is OK and is the one they have to beat.
Race 5 | 10. Belle Savoir
Smashed them here last start when getting to this trip for the first time. Won’t get the kind run she got last start as she draws out but I expect her to roll forward as she comes into this with a light weight again. She’s going to be hard to beat.
Race 7 | 10. Miraval Rose (value)
Resumes and she hasn’t been sighted since the spring where she contested most of the hot mares races. Loves racing here, her first-up form is sound and she’s ready to go off her trials. Should sit off a hot speed and get last crack.
RANDWICK
Race 6 | 3. Petticoat
Pushed a handy one in Ice Kool last start after showing pace. Draws soft and she should get an uncontested lead. Gets a claim again and she should handle the conditions.
Race 9 | 2. Lugh
Ticks a few boxes here. Will appreciate dropping in grade from his good first-up run and he is undefeated second-up. Gets in well after the claim and will go forward in these conditions which he will handle. He’s the one to beat.
