Saturday best bets from Luke & Taggart (01/11)
Cam Luke & David Taggart have your Saturday sorted on Trackside.
The lads have taken a close look at Flemington & Randwick in a bid to find the family some winners.

RANDWICK
Race 9 | 4. Maison Louis
Is tracking towards this and the form behind Lindermann and Attrition last start stacks up perfect for the race! Barrier is nice so I doubt he gets all the way back today but won’t be leading or box seat! He drew very much the same on similar soft conditions when he saluted at a big price for us on the Queensland derby and even though he has to carry the weight here, he will and will go BANG!
FLEMINGTON
Race 1 | 9. Panova
Tough way to open the carnival but it’s a good horse’s race! I’m with the Sydney filly who has identical form to Aeliana last year who went bang! Her run last-start from last was half freakish and I think she may be better than we realise. Regal Award is a nice horse and I understand the market push, but he can be a little flighty and keen and will control the race but can be quirky! I’d much rather take the $4.50 for Panova who is desperate for 1600m. She does have a bit to learn but if she handles Melbourne way of going, she will be rattling home late!
Race 2 | 4. Sheeza Alibi
She is too short ($2.30) but she will win this race! Drawn perfectly to stalk the pace and blinkers on another tick! She is back to the 1400m which she has only been once before and she was wide that day and ran second to Autumn Boy! She was good first-up behind two fancies in the Coolmore later and that stacks up here! Also helps that the only other horse who could challenge her (Teine Auleli) will need a lot of luck from that disgusting gate and she does deserve luck after she should have won last week at Moonee Valley! Sheeza Alibi is short now but she will win!
Race 3 | 10. Hedged (win) & 13. Royal Insignia (each-way)
Felt he was ok first-up when just couldn’t get to an inform horse in Jigsaw. He runs well second-up and has handled the straight before! He is drawn in the best part of the track and with the speed engaged it will play into his wheelhouse with 1400m normally being his sweet spot! Good track is where he is at his best and will run a huge race! Stable loves these situations with tried horses!
I’ve backed Royal Insignia a few times this prep and he can find an excuse. Too soft / pace too slow ect. He will love the food track and the quicker speed. He got going late and his run last start was better than the form guide suggests. Don’t dive in but he is over the odds at $15!
Race 5 | 2. Payline (each-way)
Payline will get back from the gate but there is speed engaged (Media World / Regal Zeus), and he needs a strong 1400m anyway, so barrier doesn’t faze me! Hasn’t had a huge amount of luck this prep and his last run at Caulfield he simply had zero place to go when tracked into the race! He is way over the odds at $12!
Race 6 | 10. Beadman
This is his Grand Final! And I think he is ready to go bang! Somewhat been the forgotten bloke but that changes today! He beat home Napoleonic in that race, and he embarrassed them last week at Moonee Valley. He has trialled down the straight perfectly and he is drawn wider on the track which works for him! Won third-up in first prep on similar setup staying at 1200m (albeit this is way tougher) and Blake Shinn is a star! I really like this bloke to get it done by beating Beiwacht! I’m taking the exacta but it’s Beadman all day for me!
Last week I backed Skyglider at a price in Sydney. seven day back up, I’m not sure on but if he is here clearly Waller thinks he is a very nice horse! I haven’t backed him, but I’ve included him in my quaddie.
Race 7 | 4. Miewa (each-way) & 15. Mcwoody (each-way)SRM - Both Run T6 (Sportsbet Feed - Cam Luke)
Miewa has been my Derby futures bet for a while now! He enjoys Flem, he was really good at Caulfield and should have won! I have no worries about him staying the 2500m and will have a nice run in transit. I’ve got him at a much bigger price than $18 but he is a real nice each-way play at that price still.
McWoody has only had the two runs but both been decent. Wodonga debut was good when winning and was in the blanket finish at Caulfield. No major speed so wouldn’t stun me if he went forward from that gate. Looks like a horse who will stay all day and he is way over the odds at $67. Search Cam Luke on the Sportsbet Feed and find a SRM for both these horses to run T6 at $18.
Observer is the class horse and will be incredibly hard to beat and probably wins this on class but $2.20 too short for me.
Race 8 | 2. Fangirl
This girl is the best horse in the race and that’s why I’m backing her! She will be back a little as per and it’s been sometimes problematic, but she will have the entire Flemington straight to catch Pride Of Jenni. She is a mile specialist, enjoys Flemington and is great fourth-up. Good track is a huge yes and I think she gets it done late!
Race 9 | 14. Flying for Fun
Not a race I’m really keen to go hard in but I expect this Sydney visitor run well! Has been wide both runs so far this prep and today is drawn where I expect will be the right part of the track! Ran well third-up last prep and the 1100m is a sweet spot! Will run well to end the day!

FLEMINGTON
Race 4 | 1. Meridiana
Got the job first-up coming from last and she is clearly looking for this trip. Has placed in black type races last prep, gets a 3kg claim and she looks better than these.
Race 2 | 4. Sheza Alibi (Best)
Stuck on well first-up in what was a hot race won by Tentyris. She draws perfect for a trail behind the leaders and get last crack. Her only run over this trip was last prep where she ran second to Autumn Boy which reads very well for this.
Race 3 | 9. Geegees Mistruth (Value)
Value - Is another that can run well at odds. Was a much-improved run second-up with the winner Rey Magnerio being too good for her. Draws the right part of the track, and Williams rides for the first time as he could have ridden the top weight. Chose to run in this over 1200m instead of the mares Group 2 over 1100m in the last, is a good each-way play.
Race 6 | 3. Tentyris
Hits this third-up after his scintillating second-up win at Caulfield where he came from a near impossible position. The key to him is finding his feet early and saved for one run. I know this is a cracking field, but I think he wins.
Race 7 | 1. Observer
So hard to go past this galloper after he demolished his rivals last week after controlling the race. Draws soft and will jump straight onto the bunny and control the race.
Race 8 | 6. Leica Lucy
Is just coming into her own as she hits this third-up. She caught the eye last start where she came from last in what was a very slow run Toorak won by Transatlantic who then won again bolting in last week in Sydney. She draws much better to be ridden closer and she can win this.
