Sports Entertainment Network’s (SEN) television production arm, Rainmaker, is proud to announce its appointment as the official production partner of the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) as part of a multi-year agreement.
The partnership marks Rainmaker’s return to the WNBL, having previously been the League’s production provider in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons.
This renewed collaboration comes at a pivotal moment for the League, which is entering a bold new chapter under the leadership of Robyn Denholm, Larry Kestelman and CEO, Jennie Sager.
Rainmaker will produce all live game broadcasts as part of the WNBL’s landmark broadcast deal with Channel 9 and ESPN, which will see all 92 regular-season games and the entire Finals Series aired live and free on 9Now, with select marquee games on 9Go!, and full coverage on ESPN, Disney+ and the WNBL’s revamped digital platforms.
The broadcast will feature a dynamic blend of respected host-callers including Jess Webster and Joel Peterson, alongside a deep pool of expert commentators made up of well-credentialed past players and media personalities such as Tess Madgen, Bec Cole, Michelle Timms, Rachel Jarry and Peter Hooley. There will also be some fresh faces across the broadcast including cross-code athletes such as rugby union’s Sera Naquima, former Australian Diamonds Kelsey and Madi Browne, a familiar AFLW face in Brihony Dawson, plus a team of high-profile courtside reporters and journalists, ensuring fans receive comprehensive insights and storytelling throughout the season.
Beyond game-day coverage, Rainmaker will also deliver additional content for clubs and the League, helping to grow the WNBL’s footprint, spotlight its incredible athletes, and tell the stories that matter in local markets across Australia.
“We’re thrilled to be back working with the WNBL at such an exciting time for the League,” said Trent Miller, General Manager at Rainmaker.
“This partnership reflects our deep commitment to women’s sport and storytelling. We’re looking forward to showcasing the WNBL through our two state-of-the-art studios and helping bring fans closer to the action than ever before.”
WNBL CEO, Jennie Sager, also welcomed Rainmaker’s return.
“Rainmaker understands the heart of the WNBL and the power of storytelling,” Sager said. “We’re excited to work with them again to deliver world-class coverage and content that connects fans with our athletes and clubs in meaningful ways.”
The 2025–26 WNBL season tips off with a blockbuster clash between the Southside Flyers and Canberra Capitals and John Cain Arena on Saturday 18 October. Tickets are available now at wnbl.com.au and you can watch the game live on 9Go! live from 2pm.
