Kiwis winger Ronaldo Mulitalo insists New Zealand have lost none of their confidence despite their defeat to Australia, with the focus now firmly on their Rugby League World Cup clash against the Cook Islands.
The Kiwis were left disappointed after their opening encounter with the Kangaroos in Sydney, where they believe they squandered a golden opportunity to claim a statement first-up victory.
But Mulitalo believes the side can learn from the experience and improve their execution heading into the next contest.
"We haven't lost any confidence. The confidence is always there for us,” Mulitalo told Sport Nation's Scotty & Izzy.
“It's just little things about execution. We've got world-class players here that know how to play footy, and it's about getting that together now.”
Mulitalo praised New Zealand's forwards for laying the platform against Australia but acknowledged the backline needed to do more with the opportunities created.

“I think our forwards did an awesome job,” he said.
“I think us (backs) probably let ourselves down there with execution stuff. But we'll be better for it.”
The Kiwis would review those missed opportunities as they prepared for their next match, confident the squad had the quality to respond, he added.
“Our forwards set the platform. But us outside backs, we set up the rest of it.”
He is also relishing the chance to play at Christchurch's new stadium as well as the chance to square off against Cronulla Sharks teammate KL Iro.
“Obviously a good mate of mine at club land,” Mulitalo said.
“Over a couple of beers we've told each other we're going to give it to each other, so I'm really looking forward to that contest.”
