Mitchell in hot water while Storm maintain 20-game win streak over Rabbitohs

There are three certainties in life. Death, taxes and the Melbourne Storm winning on Anzac Day.
The Storm extends their Anzac Day winning streak to nine games with a 24-16 win against the South Sydney Rabbitohs at AAMI Park.
In a mostly even game between the two sides, Melbourne’s run game would prove the difference as they were able to break down the Rabbitohs defence.
This was shown by the Storm achieving seven line breaks to South Sydney’s three and amassing 49 tackle breaks to the Rabbitohs 27.
The win also saw the Storm remain unbeaten against South Sydney when they played in Melbourne.
Friday’s win was their 20th win against the Rabbitohs in all 20 games in the Victorian capital.
But the big news to come out of the match was from Latrell Mitchell.
In the 49th minute, Mitchell was sent to the sin bin and placed on report after collecting Sualauvi Faalogo in the head with his shoulder after he passed the ball to Tyran Wishart.
While Faalogo was falling down before the collision, Mitchell is likely to face a lengthy ban from the judiciary for the head-high hit.
South Sydney coach Wayne Bennett did not appear at the post-game press conference due to losing a tooth during the match.
Assistant coach Ben Hornby would face the media alongside co-captain Jack Wighton.
When asked about the Mitchell incident, Hornby did not offer much of an opinion on the basis of really seeing it.
But he did acknowledge the efforts that Mitchell tried to make to prevent the incident from being worse.
“It did look like he (Faalogo) did lower his level a fair bit,” Hornby said.
“And Latrell tried to lower his level and like I said, at the end of the day, we’ve got nothing more to say about it because it's going to be dealt with by the judiciary.”
South Sydney will come in next week as favourites for their Magic Round clash against the Newcastle Knights on Saturday.
Melbourne will look to continue its positive start to the season when they head to the Sunshine State to play the Canberra Raiders to close out Magic Round next Sunday night.
