The Warriors' worst fears have been confirmed, with star half Luke Metcalf set to be sidelined for the rest of the team's 2025 NRL campaign.
Metcalf limped from the field during the Warriors' 26-12 defeat to the Broncos in Brisbane on Saturday, hit heavily by Broncos forward Brendan Piakura. Piakura was reported to the NRL judiciary but wasn't charged over the incident.

According to reports from across the Tasman, the 26-year-old has suffered an ACL tear, bringing an unceremonious end to what was shaping as a breakthrough season, leading the NRL on the Dally M ladder when the injury occured.
It's the latest in a series of injuries for the Australian, who now faces a long road to recovery to get himself back to full health by the start of the 2026 season.
Metcalf tore the same knee back in 2019. He also broke his tibia in the same leg last year.
Te Maire Martin and Tanah Boyd are the most likely contenders to fill Metcalf's spot in the halves alongside Chanel Harris-Tavita.
Metcalf is another brutal injury blow for the Warriors, who are already without co-captain Mitchell Barnett, who suffered the identical season-ending injury last month.
