At just 24 years old, Kiwi alpine skier Alice Robinson is preparing to compete in her third career Winter Olympic Games.
Speaking with Sport Nation’s Scotty & Izzy, Robinson thinks back to her first trip to the Olympic village as a 16-year-old in Korea, reflecting on how far she’s come since.
“When I think back to it, it feels like a blink of an eye.” Robinson said.
“But when I also think back to it, I think about everything that’s happened between now and then, and a lot has happened”
“I remember when I was 16 in Korea walking down the street thinking I could be going to Milano Cortina and I’ll be 24, imagine that. And now it’s happening.”
Many athletes spend decades training to reach the Olympics. But for Robinson, that pinnacle came a lot sooner than expected.
“It all felt like a bit of a blur,” she admitted.
“I didn’t find out I was going until like two weeks before, so it kind of just felt like a ride I was on.
“They sent me more as an experience for the future, so I felt like I could just soak up the whole Olympics environment and enjoy it.”

Coming off of a silver medal in the World Championship for Giant Slalom, Robinson has set her expectations for the Olympic Games just as high.
“Go there and be a top competitor and compete for medals, a spot on the podium for sure,” said Robinson of her goals. “If I said that wasn’t my expectation, I would be lying.
“Performing at my best, that’s all I can do, and then at the end of the day I can’t control what the results are gonna be, I can only control how well I ski and how well I put myself out there.”
The 2026 Winter Olympics kicks off in Milano Cortina on February 6, running until February 22.
