Paradoxium or Warwoven? Which 2YO will win the Magic Millions
Bjorn Baker has two of Australia’s gun two-year-olds who are both in the market from the $3 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m) – Paradoxium (3.60 with Sportsbet) and Warwoven ($5).
Both of those colts have won their last starts, with Paradoxium winning the Magic Millions Wyong 2YO Classic (1100m) and Warwoven winning at Randwick on Saturday across 1000m.
The trainer admitted that he is extremely lucky to have two promising two-year-olds at this time of year, leaning slightly towards Paradoxium as the better colt.
“It’s an important time of the year to have one good two-year-old let alone two, so I’m very lucky,” Baker said on SENTrack & RSN’s Giddy Up.
“If I was going to lean one way I may lean towards Paradoxium just because he’s a little bit more seasoned, he’s had the two runs. He ran in the Breeders’ Plate and had a bit of a break after that (before winning at Wyong on December 10).
“I think Warwoven is still fairly untapped. He’s come through the run (on the weekend) in great order and he’s a lovely, big, strong colt.”
His two talented colts aren’t Baker’s only two-year-olds that he will try and push for the Magic Millions though.
In fact, he’s got multiple different youngsters who he will try and qualify for both the 2YO Classic and 3YO Guineas.
“Paradoxium will go up this weekend for the Bruce (BJ) McLachlan (1200m) and he’s well set up to run there,” Baker added.
“Warwoven will probably run again on the 3rd of January in Queensland and hopefully stay up there.
“I’ve got a nice filly called Masvingo who has had two thirds. She’s going to run on Saturday at Randwick and if she runs top three I think she’ll force her way into the (Magic Millions 2YO) race.
“Possibly O’ Ole for the 3YO race. Dance To The Boom for the fillies and mares.
“I may try to qualify Robusto and Sandpaper in the Buffering on the 3rd, and I’ve got a couple for the maiden and hopefully one or two to debut.
“It’s an important carnival to have runners and at this stage I’m shaping up as good as I’ve ever been.”
