David Gately has provided his best bets for Caulfield and Randwick this Saturday.
See Gator's Game Plan below:
BET OF THE DAY (Melbourne)
CAULFIELD - Race 9 No.17 - HALF YOURS - Sharply back in trip at Rosehill and back/wide yet still attacked the line. Fitter to 2000m and drawn in. Would love splash of rain. Good horse!
BET OF THE DAY (Sydney)
RANDWICK - Race 8 No.11 - FANGIRL - Star mare. Didn't seem to get around Caulfield overly well fresh in fast-run Memsie. Back to Randwick at pet trip and flies 2nd-up. Drier a plus too. Can hit back hard.
Group 1 analysis
Race 7 - G1 SEN Underwood Stks - WFA - 1800m
9 - SIR DELIUS - Won like a good one at Oz debut in May. Returned Randwick in Chelmsford and wide early before charging after Lindermann to just miss. He had Ceolwulf behind him there. Needs some luck from gate but looks a proper horse.2 - BUCKAROO - Had to love the way he hit the line fresh in Memsie Stks as he’s never been a 1400m horse and wasn’t far off Mr Brightside (ran bu Fangirl). Won last years Chelmsford Stks 2nd-up last prep before winning this race brilliantly, then tested Via Sistina, then moral beaten in a Caul Cup. Gets to 1800m quickly here only tiny query??10 - MOIRA - In worst ground fresh and good then chased Desert Lightning hard MV. Looks ready to fire here 3rd-up 1800m drawing better than key rivals.4 - DESERT LIGHTNING - Liked the fight there MV and the quinella beat rest easy… Has won at 2100m.11 - ZARDOZI - Trial was fair but fresh run lovely.. Her 11.04 last 200m was fastest all day. Suited 1800m/ Fitter and winning hope for mine.
Race 8 - G1 Rupert Clarke Stks - 1400m
16 - SEPALS - Has looked a G1 horse from early on. Lovely trial into his return and he cruised over, bolted in, barely ridden. Drops to 52kg here. Taking the gamble he can go forward and slot in from gate.9 - ANGEL CAPITAL - Another gun 4yo who return in brilliant fashion thrashing older horses in fast time. Won Guineas Prelude here at 1400m 2nd-up and beat Evaporate here in Feb (that horse has Damask Rose form and run very well to Mr Brightside at G1 level).10 - DAMASK ROSE - Slow out in Cockram and rushed home behind G1 mare Magic Time (who has won this race) and yep, that Evaporate form clearly ties in. Also draws wide.15 - MISS ROUMBINI - Raced wide near speed in Cockram in mostly run-ons race and still beat all-bar Magic Time. She was excellent! Oh, also draws wide.1 - ANOTHER WIL - Disappointed fresh but he flies 2nd-up and track spies tell us he is ‘’back on track’’ after work this week. Good enough to beat Mr Brightside at WFA. 2nd this race last year with 56kg… So 59kg is his challenge.5 - ARKANSAW KID - Flying and in mix here.. The very last bit of 1400m perhaps some query but in the game.
