Cricket's best sledger, according to Tim Paine
Former Australian Test skipper Tim Paine has revealed the best sledger in all his time in professional cricket.
The Tasmanian keeper, who played in over 450 matches across a 14-year professional career, listed a range of international and first-class series’ that featured some ruthless sledging.
Speaking on SEN Tassie, Paine specifically noted one former teammate who was a level above on the verbal front.

“A lot of things are inappropriate these days,” Paine said.
“It’s not too hard to be inappropriate these days, you get pulled up on anything.
“The Tassie / Victoria games in Shield cricket going back 15 years ago when we were pretty good and they were pretty good. That was off the show.
“I played in an Ashes series that was pretty relentless in Australia.
“The South Africa series was right up there, and at the heart of them was Davey Warner.
“He wasn’t that inappropriate, he was just relentless. That’s why we loved playing with him.”
David Warner was renowned for going at the opposition verbally across more than a decade of international cricket, particularly within the early stages of his professional career.
