Broncos prop Preston Riki looks forward to taking on former mentor and Warriors captain James Fisher-Harris in their NRL Magic Round face-off on Sunday.
The Kiwi duo from Hokianga were once Panthers teammates, where Fisher-Harris took rookie Riki under his wing to foster his development as a prop.
“Pretty much my whole time at Penrith, I was shadowing him around, just trying to learn what I can off him,” Riki told Sport Nation’s Millsy & Guy.
“He pretty much has taught me a lot of what I know to this day, so I'm very keen for the challenge.
“I think in your career these are the sort of games that you dream about, going up against someone who's obviously done so much for you and taught you so much.”
Riki believes the ideal way to show the Kiwis skipper respect is to bring his best to Suncorp Stadium in what is arguably the game of the round.
“I think the best way I can respect him is by giving him everything I got, and showing him exactly what he's taught me and how I can use it in that instance.”

However, when it comes to inside knowledge on how to shut 'Fish' down, Riki admits the intel is much more limited.
“It's hard to fault the bloke. He's one of the hardest workers I've come across and he's always fixing the things that he doesn't do so well.”
The 28-year-old says he cannot wait to lace up his boots, anticipating the Warriors' strong local fanbase will bring the noise in Brisbane.
“The Warriors actually have such a huge base over here to begin with so it's probably going to be a pretty interesting crowd, almost a 50-50 split I'd say.
“It'll be interesting and that's the kind of energy that you can draw for the game.”
