Aussie Rich list: Insane salaries of our wealthiest sports stars
Oscar Piastri’s success on the Formula One circuit has seen him make his debut on the Australian Financial Review’s 2025 Young Rich List.
The McLaren driver is one of five athletes to make the list which requires a minimum fortune of $44 million.
Piastri, who at just 24 years of age, is driving his third full-time season in F1, debuts at 56th on the list with an estimated fortune of $122 million.
Fast forward 12 months and there is no doubt the Melburnian, who remains in contention to win the F1 drivers' championship this season, will be even higher.
He is currently one point behind teammate Lando Norris in the title race with just four races to go.
Retired Formula One river Daniel Ricciardo, who officially ended his motorsport career earlier this year, is 35th on the list with $194 million – reportedly up $7 million from 2024.
The highest-ranking athlete is NBA star Ben Simmons who sits 20th with $260 million.
Despite the 2025-26 season starting last week, Simmons is an unsigned free agent.
Also making the list are golfers Cameron Smith in 41st spot with a $176 million fortune and Jason Day in 42nd with $167 billion.
