Phil Davis' 2025 AFL Grand Final prediction
Former Giants captain Phil Davis has revealed his predictions for this year’s AFL Grand Final ahead of this weekend’s blockbuster Preliminary Finals.
The champion defender predicts Geelong to beat Hawthorn in a classic on Friday night at the MCG, to go with a victory for Collingwood over Brisbane on Saturday to set up an all-Victorian Grand Final between the Cats and the Pies.
Despite Hawthorn’s exciting style of play which has seen them defeat GWS and Adelaide in the finals so far, Davis believes it will take something special to knock off Geelong.
“My eye wandered or crossed to Hawthorn. I think the speed is a really nice match up against Geelong, but I’ll tip Geelong by about 11 points,” Davis said on SEN Mornings.
“A slight curveball in my thinking then has been Adelaide’s performance.
“It was such an amazing win over in Adelaide, and then you see what’s happened. You go, ‘well was it?’”
Davis also expects Craig McRae to mastermind his side to another Grand Final berth in their clash with the reigning premiers.
“I think once again the time that you’ll give Craig McRae will be enough. (He will) have enough solutions for Brisbane, and then Brisbane are on a plane again to come back to Melbourne,” Davis said.
“I think Collingwood by about 20 points.”
Both Preliminary Finals are set to take place at the MCG, with Geelong and Hawthorn to do battle at 7.40pm on Friday night, before Collingwood will host Brisbane at 5.15pm on Saturday evening.
