The San Francisco 49ers put their unbeaten record on the line when they host the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football in Week 6.
San Francisco is 5-0, while Washington is 1-3-1 after a 27-27 overtime tie with the New York Giants.
The 49ers are favoured by around 7.5 points, with the total sitting at 52 points on betcha. Those markets make San Francisco the clear favourite, but Washington’s attacking talent could make the spread an interesting one for punters. Odds can change, so check the latest prices before placing a bet - and as always, bet responsibly.
San Francisco’s perfect start survived a testing trip to Seattle, where the 49ers edged the defending Super Bowl champions 32-29 in a hostile environment. The win took them to 5-0 and showed their ability to respond under pressure.
Christian McCaffrey comes into this matchup on a four-game touchdown-scoring streak and faces a Washington defence that has been relatively stout against the run.
If the Commanders make it difficult for San Francisco to find room on the ground, McCaffrey can still contribute as a receiver. His ability to line up in the backfield and become a target in the passing game gives him another route to reaching this line. Over 4.5 receptions is the pick.
Rookie receiver Antonio Williams has emerged as a useful target for quarterback Jayden Daniels. In every game Daniels has started and finished this season, Williams has recorded at least three receptions.
With Washington’s receiving group dealing with injuries at different points in the season, the young receiver has an opportunity to keep building on his connection with Daniels.
At $2.20, the over is an appealing price for Williams to make three or more catches.
Rachaad White is set for an increased role with Jacory Croskey-Merritt unavailable. The 49ers have been strong against the run, so this is not a straightforward matchup, but White’s expanded workload could give him enough chances to reach the mark.
He has averaged more than four yards per carry, and 47.5 rushing yards looks achievable if Washington gives him a meaningful share of the carries.
Washington has had trouble containing tight ends, which makes George Kittle an appealing option against the Commanders. Kittle remains one of the league’s most dangerous players at the position and has cleared 64.5 receiving yards in three of his last four games.
He fell short last week while playing through an illness. If he is feeling back to 100%, Kittle has the ability to make the most of a favourable matchup and bounce back with a productive outing.
Jayden Daniels is one of the elite dual threat quarterbacks in the league, but finds himself against one of, if not the best defender in the league, Fred Warner.
Warner just has a way of commanding a team and demoralising an offense, and often used as a spy when facing a mobile QB.
Look for Warner to contain Daniels and make his life hard.
